Welcome to the Farm Show. S2 E1: To store or to sell?

In the Season 2 premiere of Welcome to the Farm Show, a Western Producer documentary series, AGI’s Senior Vice-President of North American Farm, Paul Brisebois, joins host Robin Booker at the Ag in Motion farm show to discuss key issues shaping the ag industry. From crop storage strategies to the impact of global tariffs, Brisebois offers insights into how farmers and manufacturers are adapting to a changing landscape.

“Everybody that’s in the grain commodity game understands that at harvest there’s going to be a lot of volume of crop available,” says Brisebois. “It’s supply and demand. Lots of supply, you’re likely not getting a high price for that.” He explains how storing grain until supply tightens can lead to better returns, emphasizing the importance of timing in commodity sales.

Brisebois also addresses the ripple effects of tariffs on both farmers and manufacturers. “It’s a simple equation,” he says. “If your input prices are high and your commodity prices are low, you’re not making a lot of money and you’re not spending a lot of money.” He notes that this dynamic directly affects companies like AGI and others across the industry.

At farm shows like Ag in Motion, AGI showcases its latest advancements, including smart augers. “We’re innovating all the time,” he says. “We’ve taken it to the next level of innovation where we’re going to an e-auger or smart auger.”
