AGI introduced its prototype E-UTX Smart Auger at Ag in Motion in Saskatchewan in July, marking a shift towards battery electric drive in grain handling equipment.

“We wanted to take it a step further, so it’s a smart auger,” says Kent Woods, AGI Director of Global Product Management. “We’re trying to increase efficiency but also hit huge safety concerns and try to alleviate them as much as possible.”
Developed in partnership with California-based Monarch, the auger features remote operation via smartphone, a joystick-controlled operator station and advanced safety systems like human detection and GPS-based yard mapping.
The battery powers the auger for up to four hours and can also support other tools when off-grid. AGI plans to begin production in 2026, with final specs shaped by farmer feedback.
