AGI unveiled its new Smart Auger prototype to the US market at Farm Progress Show (FPS) in August. Agriculture of America (AOA) host Jesse Allen got the inside scoop from Tyler Camm, AGI Engineering Supervisor, and Nat Davenport, Senior Product Manager with Monarch. AGI partnered with California-based Monarch to build the innovative battery-powered auger.
Tyler Camm says the Smart Auger is a result of farmer feedback on safety and efficiency in their operations.
“The human detection in and around the hopper area and other safety features keep the farmer safe throughout the day,” he says. “On the efficiency side, just being able to run the machine by remote control and operate it from the cab of your truck.”
Nat Davenport talks about partnering with AGI and the expertise that Monarch brings to the Smart Auger.
“So AGI, they’re the experts in augers so we didn’t want to reinvent the wheel when it comes to that. But we bring expertise with our software platform that lives on the vehicle as well as in the cloud. We’ve been able to bring a bunch of new features and work with AGI to bring a new prototype to market really quickly,” he says.
AGI continues to welcome feedback from farmers on the Smart Auger prototype with the hopes of releasing it in 2026.
