AGI’s Pink Conveyor Campaign Raises $66,375 for Breast Cancer Research

Saskatchewan farm family secures top bid

Winnipeg, MB, November 14, 2024Ag Growth International (AGI) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its Conveyor for a Cause campaign, which raised a total of $66,375 CAD for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). The campaign, launched in October to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, featured an AGI pink limited-edition UCX³ U-trough belt conveyor  that was offered up for bid by Canadian farmers.

The highlight of the campaign was the winning bid of $65,100 CAD, secured by the family members and employees of fifth-generation Bolt Seed Farm, Wynyard, SK. In addition to the auction, public donations contributed $1,275 CAD to the overall fundraising total, demonstrating the community’s support for breast cancer research and awareness.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of AGI’s Conveyor for a Cause campaign,” said Tom Firth, Senior Director of Manfacturing for AGI Canada Farm. “The generosity of the farming community and the public, in general, has been overwhelming. This first-time ever initiative shows how agricultural and urban sectors can work together to support vital breast cancer research and stand in solidarity and commitment for important community causes.”

The UCX³ conveyor, known for its efficiency and grain quality protection, symbolizes AGI’s dedication to both innovation in agricultural equipment and corporate social responsibility. The funds raised will aid the CCS in its mission to improve cancer prevention, treatment and support for those affected by breast cancer.

Scott Bolt, representing the families of Bolt Seed Farm, shared their enthusiasm: “As a family farm partnership, we try to give back when we can. We saw AGI’s campaign online and knew it was right up our alley. First, it is a worthy cause because cancer touches the lives of so many people including family, friends and community members. It is a great place to donate,” noted Bolt. “Also, we really like one-of-a-kind things. A pink conveyor will definitely get some looks when we put it to work.”

The Bolt Seed Farm is a true family affair that includes parents, Dale and Lorre; two brothers’ families, Scott and Rhonda, and Tod and Sara; nephew, Wyatt; and six full-time employees. The farm produces wheat, barley, oats, canola, and peas on 18,000 acres in central Saskatchewan.

During a special cheque presentation at AGI’s Saskatoon facility, Rodger Lohman, CCS Supporter Engagement Specialist, expressed gratitude: “On behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society, we are so thankful to AGI, its employees who built and promoted the conveyor, and farmers who bid on it – especially Bolt Seed Farm. Their spectacular contribution and heartfelt support not only raised funds but provided much-needed awareness for the cancer cause. This kind of commitment continues to create a brighter future for the 1 in 8 women, who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Thanks to grassroot efforts like these, the breast cancer death rate has been cut nearly in half since 1986.”

According to Lohman, local campaign contributions help to fund innovations in vital breast cancer research, provide cancer care for millions of people, advance breast cancer treatments, and enable life-giving support for families affected by breast cancer across Canada.

“Thank you for helping to rewrite the story. AGI's generosity is funding compassionate support programs to make life better for people facing breast cancer today and world-leading research to transform the future of breast cancer forever. Cancer is big – and nothing big gets solved by one person or one organization. To take on cancer, it takes all of us – it takes a society,” added Lohman.

AGI continues to encourage public contributions to Conveyor for a Cause through November calling attention to Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. All funds raised will go to CCS.
