Plans, develops, directs, trains and oversees warehouse operations and staff. Coordinates warehouse activities to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Performs liaison function with sales and multiple divisions to forecast and communicate manufacturing and product needs. Creates and implements warehouse controls and procedures, oversees material management and inventory operations including material control, acquisition and disbursement. Provides direction and resolution for escalated customer inquiries and ensures production deadlines meet customer demand. Works with divisional and corporate staff to manage the safety environment and any associated repairs with the facility and equipment.
Position requires the ability to react to fast paced routine task environment; requires moderate amount of sitting; requires the use of office equipment including personal computer, calculator, fax, copy machine and telephone; must be able to verbally converse with other individuals; must be able to retrieve from and add to paper files. Position requires the ability to react, move about, install, remove and replace objects, exchange information verbally and in writing, detect and observe things; drive an automobile; lift 50 pounds; work with little supervision, works alone but mostly with others; requires the use of power tools, test boxes and company trucks; forklift, and cranes; color and depth perception is required; works with mechanical and electrical devices; sometimes works with chemicals and toxins.
Typical Working Conditions:
Person in this position will work in an inside office and warehouse environment and occasionally outside. Works alone as well as with others; will have contact with vendors, as well as other employees; normal work hours are Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm; weeknight and weekend work may be required. Regular attendance required.
Nature of Supervision Received:
Work is performed under the general direction of the Distribution Manager. This direction is to assign objectives, assist in prioritization of tasks, to review results of efforts and to offer guidance. Responsibility for the means to accomplish the objectives rests with the person in the position.
Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:
Judgment exercised and decisions made regarding all personnel matters. Requires the ability to comprehend and evaluate facts and arrive at a decision consistent with company standards and procedures. Must be thorough and accurate in identifying problems, implementing solutions, and working with all customers. Decisions are required as to which procedures are applicable to a given situation and how best to obtain results consistent with company practice. Often deals with complex warehouse problems.
Major injury or damage to company facilities could result in financial loss. In addition, a high degree of care and attention is needed to prevent loss of business if customers are not handled in a courteous and tactful manner.
Responsibilities for Business Contacts:
Has contact with vendors, motor freight carriers, employees and direct customers. Tact, discretion and resourcefulness will result in maintaining successful relationships and will enhance the opportunity to grow.
Must be extremely confidential in working with all company and employee information and documents.
Supervises the warehouse staff and operations, including setting expectations, providing training, developmental opportunities and feedback and ensuring goals are met in an efficient and effective.
