Founded in 1987, Improtech is a Toronto based engineering consulting firm specializing in the design, commissioning, and implementation of processes for the food, dairy and beverage industries. Clients are provided with a full range of services including troubleshooting, conceptual design, machine fabrication and installation, project management, commissioning, and training.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Engineering, you will oversee a team of process engineers, as well as assist and direct your team in the design and implementation of projects in the food and beverage industry. In addition to employing engineering fundamentals in systems design, you will interact extensively with customers, as well as assist with and direct the coordination of outside contractors and plant floor logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyses, design and implementation of new processes, process improvements and cost savings initiatives.
  • Research codes and regulations applicable to a project.
  • Develop technical reports on recommendations to improve new processes, feasibility studies and energy savings initiatives.
  • Process design of complete systems including clean in place (CIP) systems.
  • Drafting of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Ensures documents and practices surrounding material integrity and inventory/asset management are in place and effective
  • Strengthen relationships with existing clients, particularly with client senior management.
  • Build strategic relationships with other complementary engineering firms for sub-contracting.
  • Develop other revenue streams, such as “turn key” projects or additional services.
  • Fully understand and identify opportunities to develop Improtech team capabilities to meet current and future project needs.

 

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Additional Project Management or Business Management education is an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of previous project engineering design and project management experience in the Food & Beverage Manufacturing Industry.
  • Member of Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Must have experience leading multiple, concurrent projects to successful completion.
  • Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines, and at senior levels.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write effective, high-quality communications and documents
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Advanced skills with: Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, AutoCAD
