Areas of expertise include process engineering, packaging and handling engineering, validation, liquid ingredient handling, design of fully automated clean-in-place systems, utilities design, commissioning of new equipment, and machine safety and guarding design.

The Opportunity

We are actively seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, for the AGI Food Platform. Reporting to the Technical Director, AGI Food/Engineering Manager AGI Sabe, you will lead project design assignments and contribute to the implementation of standards, best practices, and continual improvement. You will lead design and manufacturing technology transfer within AGI’s various global locations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce 3D models of proposed equipment solutions and associated piping, support structures, electrical cable trays and conduits as required
  • Produce detailed 2D CAD general arrangement and manufacturing drawings for plant layouts and equipment designs
  • Work with suppliers and incorporates supplier drawings into 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to work with employees from different divisions, different countries, and different time zones
  • Extensive travel will be required at the start of employment (France and USA) for onboarding, product and standards training, manufacturing training, and for relationship building
  • Contributes to the continual improvement of internal drawing standards and procedures, as well as manufacturing and assembly best practices
  • Leads or attends internal and external design reviews and progress meetings on all aspects of assigned projects
  • Works closely with other Engineers, Project Mangers, suppliers, installers and construction teams
  • Knowledge of ASME, NFPA, and OSHA standards pertaining to Manufacturing equipment design
  • Ability to lead project design, distribute and check other team members’ work
  • Ability to lead or attend internal, client and vendor meetings in a professional manner

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, or Diploma in Engineering / Design Technology or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years + previous 3D and 2D plant equipment design/drafting experience inclusive of responsibilities above (ideally in agricultural, animal feed, food production, and material handling environment)
  • Experience in working seamlessly between Metric and Standard formats is required.
  • A solid understanding of Plant Layout, Manufacturing Equipment, Piping Design/Drafting techniques, GD&T, and engineering terminology is required.
  • Design Engineering background with experience and specialization in 2D & 3D AutoCAD and Revit, and Solidworks in the design of process equipment is required.
  • Experience in preparing clear, complete, detailed, and accurate designs and drawing packages for custom manufacturing equipment from concept sketches through to detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Strong written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Management skills
  • Strong written and verbal command of English language, Fluency in French language is an asset
