The Opportunity

AGI is in search of a new Safety and Quality Coordinator for our Horace, ND location. The Safety and Quality Coordinator will report to AGI’s Portable Handling Products Group and will be charged with developing, overseeing and providing support of the warehouse’s quality and safety activities for the AGI North American portable handling customer base. Additionally, they will plan, coordinate, and implement organizational safety programs and maintain training recordkeeping. Furthermore, they will review and establish standard operating procedures and implement continuous quality improvements. Leading and championing Continuous Improvement Projects will be key in developing a culture that encourages collaboration with a focus on safety and quality initiatives. Travel required to other warehouses across the U.S. Superior communication skills, including active listening and a service orientated approach will be key in delivering results for the warehouse operations.
The Team

The Safety and Quality Coordinator is based out of the Horace, ND warehouse, and reports to the US Distribution Manager for Ag Growth’s Portable Grain Handling Products.

This dynamic team of currently 7-10 employees provides best class customer service to our North American portable handling customer base. They will work collectively with Dealers, Customers, and internal Regional Sales Representatives across AGI to meet the growing needs of our customers.

Responsibilities

The Safety and Quality Coordinator will develop and execute quality and safety oriented strategic plans to promote best in class customer satisfaction. More specifically, the Safety and Quality Coordinator will:

  • Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Plan and implement programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provide information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Lead the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
    Establish and maintain fleet and DOT safety compliance, including preparation of employee DQ files, vehicle maintenance, motor vehicle records (MVR) and hours tracking.
  • Maintain safety files and records and supports the maintenance of plant training records.
  • Evaluate analytical methods and procedures to determine how they might be improved.
  • Identify quality problems and recommend solutions.
  • Monitor testing procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols.
  • Establish receiving and inspection methods as appropriate for raw materials.
  • Supply quality control data necessary for regulatory submissions.
  • Write or revise standard quality control operating procedures and standard work documents
  • Evaluate new technologies and methods to make recommendations regarding their use.
  • Develop processes and procedures to drive systematic quality practices within our facilities.
  • Participate in internal assessments and audits as required.
    Utilize lean methodology to identify and eliminate waste in the production process.
  • Improve manufacturing and warehouse efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Perform additional related duties as requested or required.

Qualifications

  • Possess an associate degree in Safety, Quality, Marketing, Customer Service, Business, or equivalent professional and educational experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Have 3+ years’ experience in the manufacturing principles of Six-Sigma,
  • Quality Assurance, Safety and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Be well organized and pay close attention to detail.
  • Have superior communication skills, including active listening.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license
  • Have advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and M2M (or other ERP system).
