The Opportunity

The role will manage manufacturing operations of grain dryer production and plan, direct and coordinate the operations of Dryer Value Stream. The role will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, procedures, and best practices, in addition to developing manpower requirements and setting priorities for production schedules. 

The Team

The role will work closely in conjunction with the Manufacturing and other Production Supervisory personnel to plan, direct and coordinate the shift production.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Production Supervisors & Leads to create a unified effort for manufacturing a quality product in an efficient and safe manner. Work closely with Engineering and Purchasing to achieve product improvements and product cost reduction.
  • Direct and coordinate day-to-day production activities of the value stream. Develop proficiency of assemblies and essential knowledge of internal and external processes involved in the fabrication, assembly, shipping, installation, service, and operation of grain dryer products.
  • Develop scalable production plans that will support the company's short term and long-term growth.
  • Develop and maintain a Value Stream Map with demand takt times for Dryer Value Stream. Manage system bottlenecks to achieve Values Stream goals. Define product family and develop appropriate product groupings by conducting Product Routing Quantity Analysis.
  • Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and coach staff, and resolve personnel situations in coordination with Human Resources. Coach and train non-English speaking personnel by developing effective visual aids and demonstrations.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports for communication during daily Gemba Walk. Daily reporting and processing performed in ERP System and Microsoft Excel.
  • Focus on grain dryer products, setting industry standard for cost, quality, and lead time.
  • Monitor product standards to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality. Actively assist in development and implementation of Quality Management System.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and other operational reports, to detect production problems.
  • Work with Production Supervisors & Leads to use the information from OEE measurements to improve utilization of key manufacturing equipment.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure manufacturing facilities and production equipment is maintained, down-time is minimized, and effective preventive maintenance program is in place.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationship with other departments within the location (i.e., sales, engineering, accounting, human resources). Encourage teamwork within plant and across all other AGI groups.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school
  • 2-5 years manufacturing management experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams) Outlook Email/Calendar
  • Strong manufacturing leadership background with experience in lean manufacturing and/or six- sigma principles.
  • Keen understanding of manufacturing operations, scheduling, and value stream management.
  • Business Acumen - Ability to grasp and understand business concepts and issues. 
  • Change Management - Ability to encourage others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to addressing problems and opportunities.
