The Opportunity  

This position will be responsible for executing purchase orders, negotiating prices and delivery, forecasting lead time and delivery requirements, communication with vendors, and working closely to forecast raw material usage.

The Team

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this role will work closely with inventory clerks, production scheduling, and production managers.


  • Review and analyze system shortages to issue purchase orders as appropriate
  • Seek out electronic components, mechanical components, and other raw materials / assembled parts for sale through several vendors
  • Negotiate purchase prices and delivery schedules through forecasting for several months of requirements
  • Keep meticulous records on all transactions; utilize ERP/MRP system to issue POS and develop forecast requirements.
  • Keep open purchase order reporting up to date
  • Work closely with the product engineering team on purchase product changes and new product developments that require new purchased components
  • Inform vendors of our purchasing requirements and ensure all tasks are fulfilled
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Manager and Master Scheduler to develop forecast and schedule deliveries for JIT shipments



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 3+ years of purchasing or operations experience in a warehouse/manufacturing setting.
  • Made2Manage or other ERP system knowledge and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow safety requirements for the facility
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication skills on all fronts (listening and speaking)
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills to be able to get along well with other workers (cohesion)
  • Ability to work collaborate departments to achieve needed results
  • Must have good coordination and organizational abilities. This is needed in a bid to always deliver products on time to customers
  • Must have good time management abilities
  • Must understand the basics of customer care
  • Willingness to work as part of a team or even lead a team when called upon
  • Ability to multitask if need be and display urgency while carrying out duties
  • Ability to be creative and innovative in needed solutions
  • Must have a basic knowledge of computer software and operation
  • Must be familiar or have a basic understanding of ERP systems
