The Opportunity

As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for assisting the Division Controller in the preparation of all financial and cost data. You will also be responsible for providing management with accurate information in the areas of costs, budgets, forecasting and to do so in an efficient manner.

The Team

You will report to the Yargus Division Controller.  You will work in collaboration with management staff by providing accurate information in the areas of costs, budgets, forecasting and to do so in an efficient manner.

Responsibilities 

  • Optimize perpetual inventory systems by fully utilizing ERP functionality. Engineer to order environment with complex job orders, BOMs and RF scanning.
  • Institutionalize post-mortem reporting processes. Variance analysis of quotes to actuals for materials, labor and overhead.
  • Assist in month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, and compiling data for financial reporting.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for quoting systems, forecasting capabilities, and working efficiency.
  • Assist in creating proper internal controls in accounting operations.
  • Point person for auditing inquiries, documentation, and narratives pertaining to accounting operations.
  • Assist in all other auditing inquiries.
  • Manage inventory– coordinate annual inventory, reconcile negative inventory, process/manage inventory movement from plant to warehouses.
  • Cultivate growth with accounting department staff and inventory control staff to ensure best practices are developed and managed going forward as best in class.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Responsible for following the company’s safety policies, procedures and compliance rules.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 + years of accounting/finance experience
  • Strong experience in ERP systems
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, and inventory control management
  • Knowledge and experience with engineering systems with complex BOMs
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Evening and weekend work will be required as needed.
  • Regular attendance is required.
