FAQs

What are Sentinel buildings made from?
All of Sentinel’s buildings feature an all-steel construction. The steel used in the main structural members of our buildings has a minimum yield strength of 50,000 psi, and the weight of the steel is carefully calculated by our engineers to handle all applicable snow and wind load tolerances. The standard gauge of wall and roof sheeting panels is 26 gauge with a yield strength of 80,000 psi.

Are all Sentinel buildings painted?
Yes, the walls and trim on all Sentinel buildings is painted in your choice of more than 16 different color options. Paint protection on color panel features is a 30-year warranty. Our standard roof sheets are made from Galvalume material for exceptional corrosion protection in the harshest environments. Galvalume has a shiny aluminum finish but can be painted if a different color is desired. Sentinel’s Galvalume sheeting also features 30-year warranty protection.

Is the trim on Sentinel buildings hemmed?
Yes, unlike a lot of competitive buildings, Sentinel takes the time and effort to roll the edge on all building trim. This gives our trim a neat, straight finish that is safer because there are no raw edges. Hemmed edges are also much stronger than unhemmed trim and, because they have no exposed material, are highly resistant to rust and corrosion.

Are Sentinel buildings insulated?
Sentinel offers laminated fiberglass blanket insulation in a variety of thicknesses and R-Value ratings, as well as thermal-efficiency systems for both interior walls and ceilings. Your Sentinel building consultant can make recommendations on insulation based on climate and building use.

Are sheeting closures standard on all Sentinel buildings?
Absolutely! Fitted foam closures are standard at the eave and base of all Sentinel buildings, which prevents dust, snow, insects, rodents or birds from gaining access. In addition, Sentinel also offers an optional deluxe trim package that provide a virtually “chew-proof barrier” for your structure.

How long does it take to get a building?
Because every Sentinel building is custom designed based on the customer’s needs and preferences, delivery time is on average 6-8 weeks from the time the order is received. However, this schedule can vary based on seasonality and can be as short as 4 weeks or as long as 16 weeks for more complex projects. Your Sentinel Building Consultant can give you an estimate after reviewing your specific project.

What about my local building codes?
Every Sentinel building is engineered to meet all local building code requirements, and Sentinel will provide drawings stamped and certified by a registered engineer if required.

Who will erect my building?
Many Sentinel dealers include foundations and building erection as part of their service, which helps ensure a quality, finished building that meets your needs.

Is there a Sentinel building near me?
Sentinel buildings are everywhere, and one may be near you. A Sentinel Building Consultant will be happy to provide you with a local dealer’s contact information, who can then find a nearby Sentinel building owner. Many of these customers are proud to show off their buildings and answer any questions you have about Sentinel quality, service and support.
